On Saturday morning April 9 I took my 10 year old daughter on her first turkey hunt. This was her first year on the gun with the mentor hunt. As we were walking out to the blind we had gobblers sounding off all around us. We sat and in less then 20 min after sunrise we were covered in 20 plus birds. A couple bearded hens came into the decoys but she was adamant "I want that one" as she pointed to the beautiful tom srutting his stuff at 60 yards. The Tom worked his way to 40 yards and started breeding a hen, which also lead to a good learning lesson for my daughter and I. We put the bead of the 20ga on the head of the tom and at 40 yards. She squeezed the trigger and the rest is all history! Then the afternoon rolls around and my nephew shows up for his first hunt ever. Less then 1 hour in the blind at 230 in the afternoon we pulled a lone gobbler over 600 yards into our decoy set. My nephew squeezed the trigger on a 20 shot dropping the tom in his tracks. Needless to say they're both hooked for life. We were blessed with a great day! Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk
We didn't weigh them....well into the 22 to 25 pound range both had 10" beards and fairly small spurs. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk
