The 31st our season ends this year. Haven't hunted much at all the last month due to working a ton. I also some how badly screwed up my ring finger. I haven't hardly been able to bend it so that makes it tough for a finger shooter.

Anyhow I made it out this morning. Temp was -21 below with a 10 mph wind. It was damn cold. I set up on the ground by a brush pile. A few hours into my hunt here comes a doe my way browsing here and there. She ends up coming to with in 8 yards. I was shocked she didn't see me when I pulled my recurve back. I had to hug her shoulder as there was a tree about 3 inches in back of her shoulder. I hit my spot perfect. Complete pass through. Arrow was laying about 10 feet on the other side of her. She ran about 100 yards and piled up. Got the lungs. She dressed out at 110lbs. I was by myself so no pictures of me with the deer. I just used my cell phone to take a picture. In 26 years of bow hunting this is the 1st deer I've not had myself in with the kill photo. This is probably the coldest weather I've shot a deer in. I did shoot a doe when it was -22 once but there was no wind unlike this morning. Number 2 for my new recurve. Got a bear earlier this year.

Time to start ice fishing now!! The locators are plugged in!! :)

I am shivering just looking at the picture. You are a real man if you can stay out there on a day like that. Congrats!

That's awesome! Can I ask what kind of cloths you were wearing? Maybe I just need to acclimate to colder climates. I set for 4 hours in a ground blind yesterday. Temp was 11 with wind gusts to 35 mph. I about froze to death. I will say I was comfortable as the sun started to set and the wind calmed down!

You are a trooper man! Just walking from the car to the office this morning I was thinking "Man if someone is out there today they are nuts!" jokes on my because you got a nice one! Congrats!

How do you stay warm in this? Even with hand and feet warmers I would be as frozen as the doe!

    Congrats, that's awesome.

I love hunting, but not -21 degrees. No way I could be out there in that type of temp. It was a could 20 degrees here tonight. I just can't keep my feet warm in temps much lower than that. My feet will get me out of the stand pretty quick. What do you do to keep your feet warm?
