My dad and brothers went out looking for mushrooms yesterday and walked up on a fawn! Hopefully it grows into a trophy in a few years!!
Cool! Pictures like that scare me though. Glad you and your boys are out enjoying the outdoors and you're getting them involved, just make sure not to touch or disturb the little guy! Not trying to be a troll, I'm just weird like that.
We have heard the same things, and they did not touch the fawn. They were just looking and taking the picture.
The abandonment of fawns due to human scent is a myth. Researchers catch and tag fawn, releasing them with little ill effects. If no reason to handle them dont, but if you do don't feel the fawn is doomed.
I have also heard this side of the argument and have actually experienced this before. When I was younger I had actually pet a fawn that I had found, then a couple hours later I went to check on the fawn, and it was gone. I will not touch them now, but I thought it was pretty cool when I was younger.
A few years ago we found one about 30 yards from our house, but it was able to run already. We also found one in our pasture last year that was pretty quick already, so we didn't get a picture. But it seems that every year my dad always ends up running one through the haybine while cutting the first hay crop.
