How do you tie your D loop?

I was doing some digging last night and found a few different ways people tie their D loops on. the knots were the same but some guys used serving others didn't and i assume using the serving it to hold the D loop in place so it does not slide. my question is do i need the serving if I want to tie my own D loop or can i manage with out it?

 

I tie in a top and bottom nocking point, I then tie my D loop in above and below it. I don't serve the D loop.

 

What you may have seen was some use nock sets.
Spaced correctly it eliminates nock pinch and best of all if you ever have to replace the dloop, you know exactly where to put it.

 

Never seen one served in, only seen serving used to avoid nock pinch by the D-Loop.

 

Just a D-loop for me and have never had a problem.

This was one of the first ones that I watched! I think I am going to have to give it a try!

 

I wrap some dental floss above my top D-loop knot as a reference point in case I need to replace it. It does nothing but act as a marking point......cheap and easy insurance.

 

I just use a D Loop, but I have a document saved in my email on my phone with different measurements so If my dloop ever comes lose or I need to put one on I know I can get it pretty close to the same spot. I do the same thing for my rest as well.

 

I don't tie d loops for people with serving unless they ask, that being said I run mine with serving between the nick and lower knot. Makes re tying simple

Your question was can you get along with out the loop being served. I say yes you can. Assuming, you mean the serving that is done on the string between the d loop and not done to the d loop it self. The only reason to me would be to keep the nock from being pinched or the loop from sliding. But just keep an eye that your loop doesn't move after a while.
