Whats up guys just wanted some input on dampeners. I am currently looking at the wishbone ones but wanted to know what everyone else likes and why. i currently do not have string dampeners but i have Limb ones. I still have a little bit of noise and wanna put some on my strings. Just didn't know if i should go with wishbone or something else. If anyone has any experience with the wishbones input on those would be much appreciated.
I shoot a PSE Stinger X 2015, 60# 28.5. I put wishbone string silencers on my bow this year, and LOVE them. Granted, they do add some weight to the string, but I found they took the little bit of string "twang" out of my bow. Watch the u tube video from Wishbone for install tips (pre stretch them). I have somewhere around 300-400 shot on mine, and they seem as good as new.
I'm all about the Wishbone. Cheap, easy to put on, durable, available in a variety of colors, and does the job well. You really can't go wrong.
The last 4-5 bows I have gone back and forth between TPU speed sleeves and Pine Ridge products. On my Synergy I have the Pine ridge Nitro Button XL's and the Wishbones. The Wishbones are nice because you don't have to take the string off like with the Nitro's and TPU's. Both look great, the TPU's are a little cleaner. Pine Ridge: TPU:
Ok fantastic. I'm still getting "twang" from my strings as well that's why I definitely need string dampeners. The wishbones actually don't look that bad either.
Not cool enough for gearheads, but nothing works better than the old fashioned rubber band cat whiskers. Cheap, and easy to tie on.
Personally, if the bow does not need it, I don't put them on. A good string stopper is more than sufficient at killing vibes in a string. Most of the factory stoppers leave a lot to be desired, especially on the Bowtechs. I put a Bow Rattler stop on it and it looks better, is stronger and much, much quieter than the factory one. Not to mention you do lose some speed with weight on the string.
Coop, how are the TPU's holding up for you. I just replaced a string and cables on my hunting bow and opted to try the TPU's instead of brass nocks. It seems to deaden the string a bit, but I haven't shot enough with them on to see how they hold together. I've read where a lot of people are complaining about them splitting after a short amount of time.
I personally don't use any the bows now don't need them it's more for looks now. I try to not add as much weight to the string as possible but that's just me .I use the recommended speed nocks but no dampers on my string. Plus I only shoot ABB platinums so they don't need any silencers these strings are awesome and whisper quiet.
Muzzyman88, Rob Smith of Hogwire custom strings bought the company and now owns it. The TPU'S have been reformulated and will not come apart. Hutch
The limb savers that came with installed in my string from the factory just split on me yesterday. I can't tell any difference without them so I don't plan on replacing them. As stated before, I think the string stop does most if not all of the vibration dampening and Elite puts on a good one. Sent from my VS500 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I really like the Bowrattler. It looks like an OEM stop, but built much much better and seems to quiet and dampen a string better. At least I found this to be true on the Bowtechs (their stopper leaves a lot to be desired). I think the Bowrattler looks better than most OEM stops.

I need to amend my previous statement. When the factory installed Limbsaver silencers on my string split, I couldn't tell much if any difference in sound. However, after tying on a set of cat whiskers, the arrow hitting the target from 40 yards away is louder than the bow is at the shot. I'm now a believer in the old fashioned cat whisker silencers.
