Hey guys, I just wanted to share my kill from earlier in the year. I am still new to the site, but I just started bow hunting in 2015 when a buddy talked me into doing it. Well, I dove in head first and haven't looked back! I used to be a die hard duck hunter but when I bought my bow in 2015 and got a doe on opening morning of that year and a couple of hogs, I have been hooked on this and this has now become a sick obsession haha. On Nov. 21st of the 2016 season I was able to shoot my first buck with a bow. This buck was special to me not only being my first buck with a bow, but it was a first of many things... 1st deer out of a climbing stand and 1st deer to take being away from a feeder and first deer in Oklahoma. I placed a perfect double lung pass through shot on him using a swhacker 2 blade. The deer ran about 50 yards and up 3 small ridges. Needless to say I am stoked to have my first buck under my belt. It wasn't the biggest buck being a small cull 5 point missing a brow tine (no antler restrictions in Oklahoma) but I am happy and have meat for the freezer. The best part about it, My best friend was able to take a nice 9 point that night as well. I hunt Tx mainly so I am used to a 13" spread rule... had this deer been in Tx I would have never shot it.
LOL!! It is already getting bad. Now I am in the off season here in texas and I all I can think about is next season already. I'm constantly doing more research on products and various things to help me for next season. This is the best addiction in the world slinging an arrow in my opinion!
Congratulations KJ Welcome to the obsession of Archery ! You can't eat the horns so don't every worry about only bring good because of antler size. Hunt for you inner self first and foremost .
Chelsea Oklahoma... It is about an hr north east of tulsa. I have about 200+ acres I have access too. It is a nice little get a way for me. Just hell of a drive (8Hrs) from my home town in Texas.
