I finally get time off to go hunting. Been a crazy year again. 30 inches of rain this summer and fall made for a real fun, long harvest. I ended up stuck 5 times with my combine. I quit counting how many times the boss got stuck with his, but he has the new record of 5 times in one day. He finally got a set to tracks for the one combine for corn harvest. I did manage to get stuck once even with tracks but for the most part it was kind of a blast combining through water/mud to get the corn. Made for a really interesting harvest.

I've only been out hunting 5 times so far. Between harvest and things going on with the family, time has just slipped away this year. Scouting and running trail camera didn't even happen so I am pretty much going in blind this year. I know there are some big boys running around but whether I can find and kill one is going to be tough.

Wish me luck... cause I am thinking I am really going to need it.

    Hunt #1

I got snowed on and then rained on. Round trip in and out was 3.5 miles and seemed like all up hill on the walk out, trudging through the snow. I found a lot of deer though but almost all doe and fawns. Must of been at least 25 hiding back in there. Seen one buck but he was not very big. He was having a good time harassing the does.

On the walk out the wind switched to the North and really picked up. It cooled off in a hurry. I was an ice man by the time I got back to the Escape. The bow needs to be thawed out.

Nothing shedding yet that I've seen. They are herding up pretty good. Yesterday afternoon I had 7 bucks and a bunch off doe/fawns feeding by me. All young bucks. Everyone was still packing both sides.
