The past two months between college, work and hunting on the weekends have drove me insane. But everything came together last weekend after a successful ground hunt in western OK. I watched him bed with a doe the night before i made my stalk. That morning i knew he didnt gar far. I waited for the sun to rise enough to spot them in the tall grass. I checked my wind and began crawling threw goat heads and sandburs. After making it from 200 to 60 yards i was still not nearly close enough to take a shot. They were still bedding but had moved on me some time during my stalk. I got lucky and grabbed my rattle bones before i had left that morning. I made a very small rattle sequence and that's all i took for him to stand up and come strutting my way. I got the bow ready and got to a prone position and stayed as low i could. He hung up at 33 yards looking right at me. At one point he turned broadside to look back at his lover, and i knew that was my only chance so i came up to prone pulled back at let an arrow fly. It all worked perfectly i watched him run across the field and crash. Ive killed a lot of deer from the stands but this was by far the most intense hunt i have ever been apart of.
Way to go man! Good lucking buck! That's a whole different ballgame putting stalk on one and shooting from the ground. Where do you go to school at??
Definitely appreciate all the congrats. Rifle season is here now so maybe i can get lucky with the old trusty Winchester 270
Small world. My wife & I both went to SWOSU. Somehow, I got out of there with a business degree in '07.
