Anyone doing any rattling yet? I was thinking about starting this coming weekend, I am in Southern Minnesota. Is it too early yet?
I tried to rattle in a shooter that was feeding on the neighbors winter wheat field but he didn't want to come over. He heard me but kept eating Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
I'll be giving it a shot this weekend. Last weekend I grunted my shooter into my shooting lane at 33 yards, but I never heard him coming and once he was there, there was no way for me to get a shot. Need some cold weather to get the leaves off the trees so I can see them coming.
Friday starts my 10 days of tree stand time & I'll try rattling for sure but just start with "tickling" the horns & until I get a better of how there reacting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Brought in a spike this morning with my first sequence of the year. Still gets the heart racing when you hear those foot steps rushing in. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
A friend rattled in a 2.5 year old 8 point last night. It was the 3rd buck he saw (all out of range) so he tried it in desperation and the buck came right in. He made a good shot. I'd post the picture but don't have his permission to post it lol.
I think this upcoming new moon will change that. Haven't had much luck yet, but I'm counting on this moon phase to alter the hormones a bit.
I usually start rattling Halloween weekend so I will be dusting off the black rack tomorrow night to give it a try.
You can rattle anytime of the year, bucks will be curious to little tickling during early season more so then they will be during the rut when all they have on their mind is does. Mathews ChillR NAP drop away rest NAP Killzone with Maxium blue RZ
Rattled in a small buck this afternoon. It was a short sequence with a few grunts and he showed up not 5 min later
Buddy rattled in a 8 pointer. It was a small racked eight, but the deer looked big and old. He shot it,and a few min later a bigger deer walked in.hes only been hunting a few yrs and this was his first deer kill.
getting a mature buck to charge in to some rattling is prob the ultimate rush. ive only had it happen a handful of times but it is intense! i start about now and always wait at least 40 min between sequences. gotta always be on alert and remain super still after rattling. Its amazing how they can come right to the tree your in by hearing you rattle from 400yds away.
Days that you do get a response make sure you stick with it. Seems like it's more day specific to me then deer specific
Tried hourly yesterday but no response will try Tuesday put in few mock scrapes and freshened them up with some of my urine! See how they react to that. Rocky
I have hunted in many areas and States and have noticed that when the buck to doe ratio is close to even rattling and calling works great because the bucks are used to working for love. But when there are 20 does to buck they do not worry about other bucks because they gots lots of love to chase. It is just what I have noticed. Halloween to Thanksgiving has always produce the best results rattling for me.
