Is it accurate? Yes. Is it Durable? Yes. Are the blades sharp? Yes. Like no other. Does it penetrate? Yes. Like gang busters. Does it kill quickly? Oh yeah! Does it leave a tremendous blood trail? Yes. Blood paved highway! Does it go through bone? Yes. I have been bow hunting for more than 30 years and have never been this ecstatic about a broadheads performance. I've been shooting mechanical heads for 16 years with very good success. I've tried a couple of designs that were not good. I've tried quite a few brands that excelled. I have never until this season decided to try New Archery Products. Oh the time I've wasted! I have killed two deer this year so far. A ten point with the Double-Cross (very good performance) and now a large doe with the KillZone Maxx (extreme performance). I the doe I shot was quartering away slightly and the arrow blew through and center-punched a rib on the way out behind the off side shoulder. The entry and exit wounds were tremendous. The blood trail was awesome. She went 60 yards. Here is my set-up. Darton 3900 @ 29" set at 65 lbs. Victory Vap weighing 357 gr. Shooting 340 fps. This is admittedly a light arrow but at that speed and with the small arrow, penetration has been NO issue. I will be shooting this broadhead much more in the future.
I wanna know how he gets 340fps at 29/65 & 357gr with a bow that IBO's @ 350-355.... Those numbers don't add up for me..
never chrono'd myself... but I have been shooting the Spitfire Maxx for 6 years or so and swear by them... best flying BH I have ever shot. I will not shoot anything else. I have never shot the Killzones, but hear great things about them. If it isn't broke, don't fix it!!! I have killed many large deer with the SF Maxx over the years and they all die very quickly...
I've used all of the following: Thunderheads, Grim Reapers, Slick Tricks...all the deer I've put good shots on have died quickly.
What would that have to do with anything? Your bows IBO is 350-355 you say it is shooting 340 with your specs 29/70/357... Correct? But AT BEST you would really be 326-330ish.. So again, my question how did you get it to 340? 10 FPS is significant
I see the Pearson bow sponsorship. Go shoot a Darton they will not only hit IBO but usually exceed IBO. The speed is not what the take-away is from this post. It's the broadhead performance.
Easy, those posting are some of the non-specific loyalists when it comes to discussing specs. IBO ratings are almost always quoted with an extremely light arrow set up (lighter than nearly any knowledgeable bowhunter would use) and 70lbs at a long draw. I myself struggle mightedly to see how you're garnering the speed you state, could just be a misquote, misread speed you measured or a collection of possibilities... Proper specs allows one to understand performance better is all. Also if no bones contacted even a wide mechanical will slice through easily...better yet a shot placement like in the pictures is always going to swiftly kill a deer. Freaking great shot, and big congrats for shot placement!
Its cool if you can't answer I'm very familiar with Dartons line up, and I have shot them so thanks and some do exceed IBO by 2-3fps. I've even heard of potentially 6 fps over IBO, but never 10-14 fps. As I said, that is significant. Speed is certainly relevant to the discussion especially since you are using the bows speed as a tradeoff to the light arrow and low KE numbers.
Has nothing to do with hating any brand, I'm saying he is full of it on that fps lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd like to point out that he's using the vap which is a micro diameter arrow if I'm correct. Thats got to be worth something towards the penetration issue and maybe even speed cause of reduced air resistance?
