Have a bow hunting trip to S. Illinois next week. 6 days

Any advice or strategies for all day sits?

    Thank you in advance

    Pack TP in your bag.

Stay off the phone. Make sure you have food and drink! A hungry hunter is an unhappy hunter. I'll be doing dark to dark's all next week, can't wait.

I take rain gear, gloves hat and vest in case it cools down, and some food and water. better to take extra and not need it than be without and need it. just easier to concentrate when you're comfortable.

PLENTY OF SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE, empty your bladder and your anus early, before heading out.

Thermacell, you'll likely be far enough south to be battling bugs late morning throughout the day into evening.

Don't be afraid to alter a hunt or two if it seems mid day may not be beneficial, burning yourself out before the final days isn't worth it.

If permissable and leaving isn't an option, spend a few hours mid day scouting for an end of trip hunt if unsuccessful before then.

Ibuprofen for back pain. No joke.

No matter how comfortable your stands are it wears on you after awhile.

I just couldn't bring myself to sit all day during October 24 to October 28. Bucks aren't moving real hard where I hunt at at that time.

Take a pee bottle with you! Don't eat anything that causes you to have to crap easily. (i.e oatmeal and other high fiber foods.) Pack a lunch and take something to drink. Like others said, stay off your phone and keep your eyes open. Last thing. Get a Millenium treestand if you don't have one already. Most comfortable stands on the market. Makes sitting all day a lot easier. Good Hunting!!

Phones may sound like a bad idea, but phone keep guys in the woods longer than otherwise. Plenty of my buddies do it and said the more comfortable you are the longer you will sit.

I agree Brett, I originally was going to hunt the first week in Nov, but I have no choice because of my Father's (85) poor health. I actually killed one of my better bucks on Oct 28th though.

Stretch often and stand for half hour segments every hour-two hours or so. Stay warm, when it is colder as cold will cancel an all day sit. Use whatever means possible to stay warm.. I find the incinerator suit from Sitka as the best option along with hand muffs.

    Good luck, T

In theory yes, just last week my buddy was on facebook in his stand, takes a pic, no longer than 10 minutes later took down a buck.. Gotta use common sense and obviously not be glued to it.

No, not in theory, in fact. If you're looking at your phone, you're NOT seeing what's going on around you.

I am really concerned with the future of hunting if people can't hunt without electronic entertainment.

Guess we keep getting lucky than ;) Deer don't make it to a stand in 10 seconds, even 100 yards deer travel can take quite a bit. Do whatever floats ya boat, plenty of people I know bring their phones and shoot deer all the time.

I agree. I reserve the all day sits for seeking phase. Never no though can't kill them on the couch. Good luck.

Snacks, water and TP! Your Phone helps to pass the time for sure, it can hand cuff you and defiantly distract ya. I bring an extra power supply to help keep my phone charged. Lookout tho, I heard Technology is destroying hunting ;)
