Most of you guys won't even know who these guys are (maybe covey) but these guys are the true pioneers of our sport. Like the video says, they "got it done" without all the help of modern Technology, no Dead Down Wind field sprays, no Ozonics, heck they didn't even have a range finder. That cool to see. Thanks for the post. I'm from a very large (non-hunting) family originally from Michigan and shortly after I getting into Bowhunting my Dad was telling me how his mothers best friend was married to a guy that used to bow hunt a lot and even filmed himself hunting. My Dad couldn't remember the guys first name but said his last name was Bear. I said "Bear, like in Fred Bear"? My Dad said "yeah" have you heard of him? I said, yeah I've heard the name.
Those videos take me back too bad a lot of them were shot on deer farms. I still have some tree bark camo
I've seen these guys, course I'm old. Unfortunately Noel Feather ran afoul of the law several years later. Blessings........Pastorjim
Why would Covery be the only one who knows them? Heck I have been bowhunting since the 80's, I remembering renting VHS tapes to watch those guys .
Lol I think covey may have been in one of those videos. Yeah I used to rent those at blockbuster video.
Shot I remember watching them with uncle bob as a young teenager and using similar equipment still hunt with that original tree bark camo
I have a belt buckle that Fred bear wore a good amount. The guy is legendary. And so is his belt buckle.
They produced a bunch of different belt buckles of his, ones that can still be bought online. This is one of the models they made, and there are many more like it. However, an old guy I knew named don was a charter member of P&Y club and knew Fred pretty well. Fred apparently gave it to him when he was older. Don gave it to me some time later. For all I know, he could be totally making the story up, and just purchased it on eBay like the many that look alike. I do know for a fact that he was personal friends with bear. Any way, long story short, I have no way of knowing If the story is true or authenticating it in any way. I don't care, if it's true, then it's pretty darn cool.
