Yeah I have read comments about the story on break.com, it is going to get ugly never mind the bear was reduced to a garbage eating bear because of the injury that caused him to walk upright.

I just hope the bow hunter has a good lawyer prepared to keep his name and identity of the papers. Could be another Cecil the lion BS.

I agree with the cecil the lion comment. People see the bear as a "pet" or mascot when its a wild animal. If it was taken legally there is no problem except with people having their feelings hurt.

From what I read the guy who reportedly shot it had a Facebook page taunting about planning on killing the bear for a few years. If true definitely not a good ambassador for hunting.

The dude who shot this bear sounds like a real winner. Specifically going after this bear just to make people mad. Thanks for giving hunters a good name buddy.

Any links to the actual postings by the hunter?

We had a similar occurence years ago with a white deer. Taken legally, but residents of a small subdivision illegally fed the deer and made it a local pet.

Made its rounds and think it actually got a proposed bill written to change from all white to mostly white for state protected criteria before fadin off. This was pre Cecil the lion and Spielberg killing the triceratops...

Anti's will make their own agenda, this is he first I've read on the story so won't pass judgement just yet.

Posting on killing the bear for several years and having the first state bear hunt in nearly 60 years seems a bit off. Were they OTC tags or a state draw?

Maybe he was tired of the bear going though his garbage cans.

Looks like that was proposed before the mentioned bipedal bear was taken. Neither it or the bigger harvest number was mentioned.

Doubt this story makes it any better or easier come full hearing on the bill, but also shows why so many get a feeling of set up.

Almost seems as if this bear was needing to be taken down, but the DNR was unwilling to do so due to public uprising. Season opens, bear is euthanized and blame is placed on an "unknown".

I hate living in IL, the government works against you and not for you. Makes these ideas seem plausible....

Irrational and emotional libs that think bears are people with rights make me sad.
