So sense October 1st I have seen 11 bucks. Almost ever morning I see one or two young bucks. a couple of them are still running together but most of them are running alone. But this morning was a little different I seen a deer i dont have on trail camera and he is giant, just a typical 8 point with unbelievable mass. I didn't have a shot because of how thick it is right now. I have no clue where he came from. This is first year i have ever seen this many bucks so early in the season and was not expecting the early season surprise.

My question is now that im seeing all the bucks for once whats that mean for me when the rut comes?

My dad is an advocate for the fact that there are two ruts I don't know if it's true or not but usually this time of year the bucks will get active if the temperatures are low because they will check their scrape lines and rubs that's all I can think off the action will be way less pattern-able during the rut

It means you should have plenty of targets when the rut comes.

Im seeing plenty of does. I shot one opening morning and last week i seen a group of 9. but other than that just bucks. Im worried all the bucks might go MIA when the rut starts.

With all the bucks you are seeing you should be all tagged out by the time the rut rolls around, therefore your concern is invalid. In all seriousness though as long as you are hunting in the home range of a bunch of does, you have nothing to worry about.

    Try watching the video..

If there are only 2 ruts I guess the two bucks on a hot doe my dad and I watched in his pasture in early Jan a couple of yrs ago were just try to gain experience for the next year? :)

Guys I'm no deer doctor but all doe don't go into rut at the same time. Now we see the most activity in the first two weeks on November (in my region atleast) due to length of daylight. Now if a doe doesn't conceive she can go into heat again which typically happens in december or the 2nd rut. It is possible to see rut activity in January if the doe is still is in heat and the buck still has it horns. I had the same thing happen to me last year arouND October 20 and my advice would be to hunt that buck only we the wind and condition are ideal. I over hunted my spot last year and buck's stayed through the rut but we're on guard and never got close.

I'm in the same boat I have never seen this many bucks this early 2 of which are shooter bucks 1 of my bucks from last year already so something is happening and it's not hard to see at all of course I'm running mock scrape in the area which may be a factor and have had it going since mid August so maybe I just got the core bucks thinking somebody has moved in on them!!! Idk but I'm liking what I'm seeing!!!

I dont run mock scrapes though.. I dont do anything but find the thickest stuff i can get in without getting to close to the bedding that has always worked well for me. just was not expecting all the early action.
