Silencing your treestand

Lately I've been working on the idea of a run and gun setup. I purchased a stand and climbing sticks from XOP. I have plans of being mobile and going in blind occasionally. While do this is very exciting there is also the concern of being able to successfully go in without the deer hearing you.

What do you do to quiet your setup in attempt to be a ninja!

 

ive heard of people taping their stands, to limit the metal on metal contact, just make sure you have your stuff as tight as possible to limit movement and noise

its not cheap but coban works amazing well, it is way more expensive if you but the camo stuff, so look at local pharmacies and medial supply stores.

 

i use stealth strips on my stands, sticks , and strap buckles. its a felt type material that really helps quiet everything down because there is no metal on metal contact. check out the Keystone Wild Outdoors Facebook Page there is a field tip on the stealth strips with all the info

 

Wrapping the front of the stand with paracord where the seat bar hits is pretty common. This also minimizes sharp edges where your bow could possibly contact the stand when pulling it up.

When I was using them, I used camo hockey stick tape on my LW Assaults. Similar to the picture posted above.

You can buy the plastic dip for tools and paint it on the same way people wrap the paracord stuff. I used it on my summit climber and it keeps from the metal dinging and stuff.

That's what I did with both of my LW stands. The friction tape, which is all hockey tape really is, also gives you better traction. It's time consuming, but it's worth it. Other than that, LW stands are super quiet by design.

Hockey tape the stand. Nothing else comes close.

 

This is what I do too.

 

I have an Assault that I use for run and gun. I've got the Stealth Strips on it, along with bicycle inner tubes on the buckles and am very happy with it. They take a long time to install if you do it properly on every single stick, but well worth it in my opinion.

 

I'm going to fill my summit climber with expandable foam. "Great Stuff". Then use truck bed rubber liner. I believe this combo will add a little weight but also do a good job of silencing the hollow tube aluminum. saw a video on it on youtube

 

Thanks for the tips guys! I've added paracord to the front of the stand, stealth strips to sticks and will probably figure out the bike tube on the buckles.

 

I use yakgrips on mine. It works great. You get two per pack, I then cut them in half so you get enough to cover 4 buckles. Far superior to the innertubes in silencing them.
