Well a tree stand accident finally hit close to home. A very good friend of mine was out hanging stands today and somehow had a fall. He always wears a harness while hunting, I'm not sure if he had one while hanging though. He was somehow able to craw back to his 4 wheeler and make it back to his house where his wife was. Right now he is in stable condition in the ICU. Has 6 broken ribs, punctured lung and his head is swelled up pretty good.

Everyone be safe and please say a prayer for my friend.

I know first hand what it feels like to fall. It's not fun. I got extremely lucky when I fell, but a lot of others don't. I can't imagine climbing into a tree anymore and not wearing a safety harness. It's not worth dying over.

Hope your friend makes a full recovery quickly. Just proof that you always have a second person when hanging and wear a fall restraint as well.

Hope your buddy makes out ok. Sounds like a heck of an accident. As my dad would say, "Put some Krazy Glue on it". Best wishes to your buddy.

That is some scary stuff. Goes to show that you don't have just to think about yourself but also your friends and family who count on you. Pray that your friend is ok. Hope this will get others to practice safety tips for hanging stands and hunting.

Sad to happen and i hope he turns out alright but a lesson to be learned. My neighbor is in a wheelchair for the rest of his life from falling out of a tree. Its unfortunate. Take care of yourselves out there!

I hope everything turns out ok. I wear a harness anytime I leave the ground no matter what I am doing in the woods. HSS makes a Hanger harness now that is even better. That would make a great gift for him!

Very sorry to hear about your friends accident. I will pray for him. I was hanging stands the other day-by myself-and I thought of all the times I had hung stands without my safety gear. What an idiot I was. Now I can't even imagine climbing without all my safety eqipment in use, not to mention the safety stuff makes it much easier. Hope the best for your friend.

    Blessings..........Pastorjim

That's a good idea Sam. I think I'll pick him one up next time I'm at our archery shop.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for your friend.

To anyone reading this not wanted to spend the money on treestand safety. I built 3 life lines for 35 bucks. Roughly $12 bucks per life line is a bargain for your life.
