I don't usually get too excited about early September deer hunting and have spent the past two opening days in the dove field; but with temps forcasted in the low 50 here Saturday morning there's no way I'm not hitting the stand. Got my stuff ready tonight. I haven't ran a single camera this year so I truly have no idea what's in my area. I hope I'm surprised.

Good luck to all hitting the stand this weekend.

    Ouch, that hurt.

I was supposed to be there but thanks to this hardware I just had installed on my chest I have to wait until next weekend when the temps are back in the 90s.

    I am so jealous.

This is like the first season since I've been in KY (6 years) that its been cool enough to make me want to hunt, and I can't. Just started a new job and I work Fri-Mon. So it'll be at least two weeks before it'll be cool again midweek. I knew this would happen. Oh well, hope you strike a record.

I'll be there tomorrow and Monday morning for sure. Will pull cards after tomorrow morning hunt to decide on afternoon hunts.

It was a good morning. Cool temps and a light wind. I had deer under me before it got light. Saw 6 does and a small basket rack still in velvet. Nothing gave me a good shot and I had to start out at 10. Deer are really hitting the acorns and there appears to be a lot of mast this year. I'll try to swing another hunt this weekend if I can. Morning view from the stand....

I lost my hunting spot in Garrard county due to it being sold back in January and it will be the first season I've missed since 1979. If anyone knows of a place that's for sale or might possibly let me hunt let please let me know.

Do you have any public land within an hour or so?

I'm in Garrard and the closest public land is probably two hours unless I've overlooked a place.

Yeah that's tough. Maybe you could scout it one weekend and hunt it during the rut for a week so you can just camp and hunt.
