Any opinions or info to give on First Lite Gear? I love the looks of the Fusion camo! I'm not really in the market for new gear at the moment but I may be swayed. I've read some reviews and I can't decide if it's adequate or appropriate for treestand hunting on the frigid November and December mornings... Any thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We carry it at the sporting show i work for, and the stuff is very nice. The science behind it is awesome for scent control and warmth. For the money tho, I would have to stick with a trusted name!
First lite's sanctuary jacket and bibs will get you though November and December. They are excellent quality and very comparable to other high end brands.
I just picked up some of there lighter stuff in fusion for an early season mule deer hunt. The first impressions are they seem to be good quality and layer quite nicely very thin weight to warmth ratio. I will know better after a weekend spot and stalk over the opener.
Hmm.. A company that makes quality gear instead of relying on their logo to sell product. Sounds like a trusted company to me. As for the original topic. I can't speak on behalf of the outerwear, but their base layers are one of the best out there. I'd try their other stuff out in heartbeat if I didn't already use Sitka. Pretty sure Tacklebox uses the outer pieces, so hopefully he will chime in. As far as I know, he was a fan.
I was told from Firstlite that the best stationary setup for treestands is the Sanctuary Bibs and Woodbury Jacket. I really want them in asat camo but the price is killing me! Hoping to find some on sale soon!

TJ (Tacklebox) Swears by the stuff, and uses it habitually....I'd love to add it to my attire but I cannot seem to justify the expense. It is insanely expensive, but I have no doubts is extremely (EXTREMELY) well made if it is even half as good as TJ claims. Someday perhaps when my land is paid off or I come into a lot of money (via scratchoffs maybe?) I'll try it out.
tacklebox have you had any problems with them shrinking in the dryer? I just got the chama and kanab pants and dont have much room for shrinkage in the arms and legs. Thanks in advance!!
No.... BUT I do not dry them so.... At least not yet, I can see where some items I now have like the Woodbury may need to see the dryer occasionally but any merino pieces and even the NB stuff air dries SUPER fast. Wash on delicate with correct detergent and hang to dry. Kanabs and Chamas will dry in like <30min
I picked up several pieces as they were closing out much of their RT patterns at a good price (50% off or more). :D TJ and others feedback on its quality last year was to blame (or credit). Way to hot here yet for it to get much use here yet... Though I like ASAT and fusion, I couldn't justify cost to jump to a new pattern. :|
50% OFF is probably the only way I'll try it. The Puffy is what has my eye as I've heard just such fantastic things from people that said if nothing else invest in that.
Second all of that. I never dry any of my hunting clothing and use the recommended wash method that each piece has on their tag.
So in 30-50 degree weather like we typically have here in early November could a guy get away with one of the base Layers, Chama, and a vest? Or is most of that stuff lighter than I'm realizing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I bought several pieces and I found the fit is not very accommodating for short stocky people. I bought the large north branch jacket and the medium north branch bibs(sizes I own in other brands) The jacket fits great through the chest and shoulders, but the sleeves are clearly meant for apes, they hang over the ends of my fingers. Same thing with the bibs, fit fine in waist and good size in the leg width but the length is clearly not for the short community. that being said, anybody interested in the north branch set can pm me, I'll cut you a deal.
