First lite merino, or Sitka merino or core light weight

Merino is awesome. But it itches me if I sweat a little.

I prefer Patagonia Capilene. They have 4 different weights, 1, thinnest, 4, heaviest.

I own 2,3 and 4 and at times layer them together when it gets in the teens.

I have a brand new set of Justin Charles that's 10 years old or older that I've never worn because I'm concerned of the itch and how well Patagonia works for me.

One thing I learned is UA is great for heat in Florida and good to about 25 degrees. Colder than that ? Not for me ! And about all I wear in Florida is UA.

I'd say First Lite is by far my favorite for base layers. That's coming from a guy that has tried Sitka, Kuiu, and UA.

They're merino wool so they won't smell and are pretty comfortable. Just make sure you wash the pieces before using. That will prevent itching.

All I have is a couple pairs of Terramar Military 3.0 Fleece. By changing the outer layer only, I can wear them for around 40degrees through the coldest days in WI.

BPS sells Enduraskin and it works REALLY well. I have been using it for over 7 years now. It is Moisture wicking and does great for scent control. I get the long fitted pants, long fitted top and mask(balaclava). In the early season, it helps cool you down really quickly. I wear it as a base layer all year long. I just add more layers as it gets colder.

Kuiu merino base layers. They are very comfortable/durable and come in light, medium, and heavy weights. Merino is naturally odor resistant and the light layers are great in warm or moderately cold weather.
