Does anyone have a good recommendation for good quality small package use the binoculars? I use the Bushnell Trophy XLT 10 X 42 in most cases but seem to be overkill for the tree stand along with extra bulk for the climb.

Swarovski makes a great little model. I am sold on my 10X42 EL's for everything, though.

Thanks, need to spend money in other places. I will stay with the 10 X 42.

Bushnell also makes the Trophy XLT in the compact 10x28 for around $70

The Nikon Aculon 10x25 is another compact model at a cheap price around $80

I actually dropped my binos out of my tree stand last year so I need to send mine out to have them repaired/replaced. I think these are the two models I'll be looking at to replace my standard size.

Swaro 8x30 companions or 8x32 EL are both good glass. I also like Zeiss conquest HD in 8 x32 ...really nice light transmission for their size. I keep a pair in my whitetail pack.

Have an older pair of Leupold Acadia 10X32 that are fairly compact with great glass. can use all day with no eye fatigue and won't break the bank.

I really like my vortex Diamondbacks. They are small, and a good bang for your buck. I recently had an issue with the armour starting to lift. I sent it back and their no questions asked warranty is amazing! The peace of mind that it gives makes vortex worth every dollar.

I had the same thought a few years back. I usually close one eye using a bino anyway. I got a Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 10x 42mm Monocular and like them. Very clear, good in low light and compact enough. It has a belt clip I use to hook on my safety harness or pack and a place for a lanyard. Cost under $200 - lifetime warranty.

I have these Bushnell 10x42. They're an extra level product, but I am very impressed with them. I got them on sale at Cabela's the week after Christmas and paid $40 for them. I hunt in almost exclusively timber and I find that they are perfect for what I need. If you're on a budget and have other gear to buy I strongly recommend them. Bushnell also has great customer service. I've had to deal with them before and they were very helpful.

I have been using Nikon's MONARCH 7 8x30 the past 6 months and really appreciate how light, clear and bright they are. Using them now while scouting for deer season. Retail is in the $380 range. I'll also use them to watch my son's football games this year.

I picked up the vortex 10x28 and am very happy with the size. I had the 8.5 x 50 before and they were extreme overkill for the dense areas I hunt.
