Does anyone agree with me that Mathews needs to bring back the heli m or something similar? I feel like all their focus has been on making the newest technology which is great but they haven't tried to improve weight as they did with the heli m. After looking at all the new Mathews bows they are all considerably heavier than my heli m. As well as bring back the gridlock riser and single limb. I feel like the z7 heli m and z series bows are the best looking bows. I think if Mathews came out with a heli m 2 or something with the same shape and tried lightening it up but added like no cam technology or something it would really sell. Just some thoughts I had.. Anyone feel the same?
I too really enjoyed the Helim. It was my favorite Mathews bow up until this year. I recently bought an HTX and a Halon. I really like the HTX, better than I liked the Helim. I haven't shot the Halon yet. Will get around to it next week. You won't get a solid limb bow with no cam technology, they use the wide spilt limbs to counter cam lean. If you are looking for a lite weight Mathews, the HTX is under 4 pounds bare bow, it is a great shooter.

It is cool to see this thread after you see So Many people bash the Gridlock Riser. Then when Mathews go away from it, they say they are just copying other manufacturers. Go Figure!! I say a that to say this....I love the Gridlock riser. Always have. I think the Z7 series of Mathews bows are the their best ever. That is why I will never get rid of my Z7 Magnum! Mathews has the Z2 and Z3 bows that still have the Gridlock riser. I think they do that for people who still prefer it. I don't think they can ever fully go away from it because it is liked by so many.
I got the Heli'm in 2012 and last year I bought the HTR. I did like the Heli'm but the HTR blows it out of the water in my opinion.
Love my helim as well! That's why I still have it! And Sam, I loved the gridlock riser, never cared for peoples thoughts on it being a "waffle iron" look. I do however want to shoot the HTX and the Halon, just havent yet becuase I feel if I do I will be coming home with a new bow
I shot my HTX and my Halon back to back for a few hours this last weekend and honestly I feel like the HTX feels better on the shot and is quieter than the Halon. However the Halon draws back infinitely smoother and of course is a lot faster. It's really a tough call on which I want to hunt with this fall. Personally I never really liked my Heli-m and would rate it near the bottom of the various Mathews bows I've owned. To each their own - everyone likes something different.
I thought the HeliM was such a great bow that before the discontinued it I bought a 2nd one. I never thought I would get rid of them. Last summer I got a HTR. Draw cycle was different but didn't take long to get accustomed to. Been shooting it mostly. The other day I brought out one of my HeliMs just for a change. BOY was the draw cycle weird, after shooting the HTR for months. Now I am thinking of selling my HeliMs (70-camo & 60 black) and getting another HTR.
I got my Halon about 2 months ago but still have my Helim hanging on my wall. Was planning to sell it but thinking now it might end up as my back up now just in case I need it.
