What's a deers #1 food this time of year? I'm trying to get more pictures. Would they eat instant oatmeal? Peanuts?

There's always that special gimmick everyone touts to be their discovery of "deer's universally favorite food". Honestly, I think it's a by the each's personal favorite. Deer share some very similar traits but they are also distinctly individual in many ways. Over the years I've seen deer that didn't seem to care for some things that most other deer would literally run you over to get to and others that would pick out crap that no other deer in it's right mind would touch with a ten foot pole.

My observations are that salt is the one thing I've never seen a deer not use. Peanut butter seems to have earned it's reputation as well. Normal beets are favored here as well, I literally cannot grow them in my garden. They get about six inches tall and deer will walk right past the house, the dogs, the cats and all my equipment and mow them clean. The bad part is I like beets.

Agree with salt and corn, if legal they will definitely get you more pictures. Remember to set your camera so it doesn't take a ton of pictures per minute otherwise you'll burn through your SD card in a hurry! :)

I think deer will eat more things than they won't, if you want to lure them corn and salt is pretty universal. I have used peanut butter before as well as premised grape kool aid on a stump.

As far as crop I'd say corn and soybeans. In the woods I'd say acorns and other mast crop. As far as feed probably corn or horse & mule feed (molds more than corn if not covered). I used to mix Whitetail Institute .30-06 mineral powder with 100 lbs. of corn and they absolutely destroyed it...kinda pricey though.

Salt block with a bag of BIG&J dumped on/around it or dump a jar of cheap melted peanut butter on the salt block if you don't want to spend the money.

I tried C'mere Deer once. I couldn't find a deer with that stuff. May have been wrong time of year as well.
It wasn't the Corn Coat, just the original.
