I have a new peace of property that has a good size pond on it and it is great to hunt on a south wind, only thing is the two land entrances to this one spot are a long walk in but it looks like i can get pretty close with a kayak. Does anybody here use some sort of boat to get to there spot and do you think it is more "Stealthy" or leaves less scent?
    Thoughts?

As long as you're not beating the sides with a paddle or dragging it up on ground and making a lot of noise, it definitely has it's pros.
Just don't forget that sound can travel a lot farther on open water.

Paddling in is great but I'm a lot more inclined to use my canoe than my kayak.

I can carry more gear "and get the deer out" easier with my canoe!

I have a buddy that hunts a lot of public land. To avoid other hunters , and to get to where no one else is, he comes in on the back side from the river. He always uses a kayak. I think it's a great idea.

I have to use a boat to get to my stand. Only thing that sucks is sounds are amplified x1000. Around me there are a lot of duck hunters, so sound is something they're somewhat used to, but still. Drop something in an aluminum boat when it's dead quiet, and every living thing in the area will hear it, lol. If you could bring a stand in and hang it with a boat or canoe, then use the kayak when you want to hunt I think it'd be much quieter. Then if you need to pull a deer out or something, use the boat/canoe.

Definately! The only thing I'd say is that I'd take a kayak over an aluminum canoe any day. I can worry about hauling the deer after the fact. My canoe is a poly one (older Oldtown Hunter), which is infinitely more quiet than our older metal ones. For long paddles I opt to add the electric trolling motor.

Nothing beats paddling under the starts as you creep into position on a crisp Nov morning.

Public area I hunt for does I go in by boat. Just a small 14' with a 6hp motor. Run about 4 miles up river from the landing. Shut down to just a trolling motor once I enter the mouth of the creek. Lot less sweating resulting in a lot less stinking. I can head out in the morning, get the stand set. Leave it be while I fish for a few hours and head back for the afternoon hunt.

... on second thought, paddling back across the lake with a deer in the canoe is better :busted:

Thanks for all the input!! i'm not to worried about if i get a deer or not because i can always walk it out, it might take longer but that's better than tipping over:tu:
