I drew a moose tag for here in Maine! I've been putting in for 16 years now and finally drew a tag. I got a decent zone, but am swapping with another permit holder for a different zone. Time to get shooting, going to shoot a heavier arrow and a good cut on contact broadhead. Not sure what I'll go with, anyone have any recommendations? I've had good luck in the past with the G5 Montec on deer and bear..
That's awesome! Congrats. One day I want to be able to go on a moose hunt. What is your bow setup right now? I am looking at solid broad heads this year. They are a little pricey but I've heard good things about them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Right now I'm shooting my HTR maxed out at 72lbs with a 29.5" draw.. Arrow weight is around 418gr. finished weight, with a Killzone Maxx.. Looking to switch to a fixed blade for moose, will keep shooting the Killzone for deer and bear though..
Congrats on being drawn and good luck. I shot Montec for a few years and had good luck with them.. It flew well and seemed to be a solid head. My only complaint was That I couldn't seem to get them as sharp as I liked. Others have told me that the carbon steel version are easier to sharpen. Blessings.........Pastorjim
Moose hunt sounds like a real fun time. Congratulations. I have been using the German Kinetics, Solids as well as Slick Tricks. Had a lot of animals fall over with each of them. All fly very well and do lots of damage.
I watch North Woods Law. Is the moose permit draw like they show it on the show. Or is that show set up like all shows on tv? haha just curious.
Congrats on the tag and best of luck to you. I second the Slick Tricks for a cut on contact. I would also suggest increasing your arrow weight for better penetration on a larger animal. I had mine at 450 for elk last year and would go heavier if chasing a moose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Congrats and good luck! As for a bh....Solid Broadheads on the business end of a 500gr arrow will be a killer combo!
400 seems kinda light to me for a moose. But I guess it all comes down to shot distance and placement.
For the money the Carbon Express XT 4 Blade is a decent head. It is a two blade with a bleeder. The Magnus Stinger is also a favorite of many. I like your idea to go with a heavy arrow. Good luck and have fun.
Congrats on the tag draw! I've used the Montec and Montec CS and they've been great. The CS (carbon steel) are supposed to be a little more durable and hold a better edge according to G5. Easy to resharpen is what I like best about them. Good luck on the hunt!
That's awesome, congrats on the draw! I've had good luck with my setup of Piledrivers and 125gr Hellrazors. I'm in the 525gr ballpark.
Congrat!!! I am still waiting on my first elk tag draw i put in for the third time this year but no luck!
What do you mean, not sure how its showed on the show as I don't watch it.. Thanks guys! I've got a good area, should be able to kill a good bull, fingers are crossed!!
