What are you using for a bow pod? Would a halon owner mind telling me what the thickness of the limbs is and what the spacing (gap) between the split limbs is?
None of my old ones fit, so I'm not using anything right now. When turkey hunting I used a Bowstix which has always worked great. My bow is at home so I can't get measurements, but if nobody posts by tonight I'll let you know then.
OK here is every possible limb dimension I can think of, note measurements are taken with the vernier calipers are pretty exact so you want to allow wiggle room in there for the fit of foam if that is what you are doing. If you need anything else measured just ping me, I work from home and my bow is right behind me... or in my hand because I blew off work to launch a few arrows (happens quite a bit!) Clem
this one i measured with a straight edge across the surface of the nut and then measured the distance from the top of the pocket to the straight edge but I could not hold it all and take a photo, so I'm just using the depth vernier option as a reference to where the measurement came from not how it was taken. Same here! I put my Bowstix on my bow when I was picking it up at from the shop and they work awesome!
We were tasked (by a Halon purchaser that lives out of state and is awaiting the arrival of his new bow) to create for him a pod that will hold his bow in the vert. position but does not allow the bottom cam and string to grind into the dirt. He wanted it held away from damage cause by the sand/dirt/grime, etc. He looked at a several options and the bowstix did not fit his criteria since it allows damage to the string and cam and sand, etc to get into the cam. He uses a short stabilizer so he cant lean it forward to rest on a long stab.
We were commissioned to create a custom (one of a kind) pod for a person and we have not completed the design concept (nor do we know at this time if what we come up with will satisfy the person who tasked us with the design challenge or if it will even be a practical solution since its in the early design phase) but we would be happy to compensate Clem for his troubles if he would like one of our hands free bowhunting bow holders or broadhead sharpening guides. What say you Clem??
I would love a bow holder that does not let that cam touch the ground, I don't use one for just that reason. I'm a bit of a freak about looking after my bow.
kicking around some prototype ideas for Halon bow pods. The guy who asked me to make him a pod doesn't care for the version that lets the cam hit the ground (he does not use a stab). The first concept has a 3D printed mod that can stay attached to the limb pocket with nylon set screws to snug it up to the limb pocket. Its kept off the ground with removable rods that could be short sections of carbon arrow (We prototyped it with fiberglass rods we painted) Then we kicked around a few profiles for a more conventional pods. Still more messing around to do.
Sweet man ! If u want to sell a bow pod let me know, it's unique because it keeps the cam off the dirt ! I like
Ive been going to the local Mathews dealer and measuring and testing for fit. Which one are you interested in?
The bow pod in the first and second picture with the rods, for a chill r, and it stays on during the draw ? Very nice
We made that pods on page 1 for Halons. I don't know if they work on a Chill. We don't own any Mathews bows so we would not be able to check.
