I'm going to try mineral licks for the first time. I want some velvet pics. You guys are going to hate on me but I never did anything with deer until the season was super close. What brands do you guys use, and have success with? Plus powder or block? Thanks

Go to a feed or farm store and buy a trace minerals block for like $6 and then buy the same stuff in a 40-50# bag in powder form which is maybe $9 and dump half of it out on each block. Works great for me. Eventually if you have it in the right location you'll get the deer to come eat the dirt right out of the ground...they'll have a big area of dirt tore up...then you just come in every spring and dump the powder in that same spot to replenish it for them.

They say not to put a mineral lick on a stump as you don't want deer to eventually ingest the wood...not so good for their stomachs...you want to apply it to dirt.

I have used both types and they pretty much work the same. I will say that I had the best results when using Lucky Buck, which is a powder.

    Blessings........Pastorjim

I like to use a Trophy Rock and Whitetail Institute 30-06 mineral. Both of those products on 1 site works great!

I'm with pastor Jim. I've had more activity on Lucky Buck than any other mineral I've ever used.

I use monster raxx and have a standard cattle salt block and have also had a standard cattle mineral block there as well. The deer hammer it.

analogics seems to be the most advance in actually improving your health herd. I'll be trying it this year, when i can legally but it out.

I am not going to lie this made me laugh. I think it is funny that you dislike when I give some one some crap which is not very often but when you find the need to, it is ok. You do not share much useful information here either except the fact that whitetail knowledge is not a prerequisite to be a President of a QDMA chapter

Don't go asking Tom to do two things at once.

Remember he has to sit down to chew gum!!!!!

I don't have a problem with Tom, he's always been a straight shooter in my book. Having said that, there is a degree of busting people's chops, I get it.

I do know he's had things to attend to...

You will get your chops busted once in a while... And people tell it how it is. There are few members here that I dislike for what they post or what they post about me.

One exception. Sota and and his packer shenanigans

You know what if I was a viking fan I would hate me too, with every fiber of my being I would be filled with jealousy and envy, hateful of the 13 world championships and would mock the owners of a team that is not owned by a New Jersey carpet bagger. I would hold in contempt and mock what I do not understand and wonder why fate has dealt such a cruel hand to the fans of the vikings, but rest assured I sleep well with my head facing east 5 hours and 15 minutes west of Title Town.

That being said the deer sure love Monster Raxx in the powder form best mineral I have ever used, hell I sprinkled it on my food for a week and grew 2 ".

I don't care about any of your post except that last sentence... The game has changed.
