    Just wondering how many NY, or even better Western NY hunters are on here. I would love to hear what works and see results from great hunts on a local view. I'm personally close to Lake Ontario and know that although we are all but never mentioned we do have fantastic whitetails.

    Being from Vermont we are somewhat similar

    except our F&G seems like they don't want to succeed at managing a successful deer herd!

    I truly believe that NY is doing everything within their power to ruin all hunting in the state. God forbid taking steps to improve it.

    We have great habitat. The problem here is hunter to acreage ratio and a ridiculous 3 week+ gun season

    So would you be willing to go to a draw system for a license that limits the number of licenses sold?

    No bigger pet peeve than the day before gun season when there is lines of "Walmart" hunters that stand waiting to buy a licence. I have nothing against gun but I hate the( brown and down) mentality

    I spend all year in the woods going after literally <1% of the deer population so I get pissy when people kill anything and everything that walks by.

    I can't imagine dealing with all the pressure on the deer, bow hunting after gun season has to be a challenge.

    How many deer can you shoot? Here in Minnesota I get to shoot 1 arrow a year, and the gun season is in the heart of the rut.

    Well there is your problem, that many hunters shooting that many bucks is never going to favor young bucks making it to maturity. I would do what Trial does and hunt elsewhere.
