Interested as well. Had a Redfield Raider 550 crap out. Looking for something new. Wondering if the angle comp. Matters. Heard it doesn't at archery distances.

get the angle comp. have used range finders with and without angle comp and for the little added cost is worth it. currently use a bushnell chuck adams model that has worked great. A friend has a leupold that is very nice. have not looked closely at any brands

I'm using the new Nikon 7i. Works really good.

If I had the money I'd get either the Leica or Swarovski laser-binocular combo.

    I'm using a Bushnell Sport 550.
Got it for $120 (40% of) last summer from Cabelas.
So far it has worked flawlessly and I really like that it uses a 9 volt battery instead of the watch type batteries.

It doesn't have angle compensation but I tried ranging a target from the ground and then from and stand and there was a 1 yard difference.

I have the Halo XRAY 600 model, owned it for about a year. It's worth the xtra $$, for the AI. So far, no issues, it has the same battery since purchased. My .02, it's worth the money, Halo makes a good product!

Make sure you get one that has a back lit screen. My first one (nikon pro staff) did not and it was a pain because you could not read the yardage until well after shooting hours. My new one (Vortex) does and it makes picking out your distances much easier to do.

Neither was my Redfield. I wasn't that impressed with it. I have a couple other Redfield products I am super pleased with so I bought the rangefinder. Not back-lit, and inconsistent. Then just stopped working. Everything I ranged was 32 yds. Lol. I took apart cleaned the lenses, new battery. Nothing. Made in China of course. Redfield has lifetime warranty except on their electronics (2yrs). They timed it right cause it lasted 3 yrs.

I just bought the Bushnell Truth edition, it is awesome. It is fast and has angle compensation. It is relatively inexpensive as well. I use it for bow hunting as well as rifle hunting.

Lecia 1000r is about as good as you can get in a separate unit.
