So I got this Pse Drive on trade & after playing with it I pulled the QAD Hunter off & had a HDX installed. Got & paper tuned it, got it shooting bullet holes at 15yrds. Then I tried my broad heads out to 20yrds. It's stacking them, both 2 blade DRT heads & 3 blade G5 Montecs. Now for a 60# bow shooting a 400gr arrow what would be the best head to shoot? This will be my 1st year to shoot fixed blades. I shooting the DRT's out of my Arena 30, but it's shooting a lot fast than this Pse.
Either of those broadheads will do a fine job. You'll get a lot of replies with everybody's favorites and they are favorites for a reason. They work. Personally I've killed many big game animals with Muzzys and they worked flawlessly. Also Slicktricks work great too. Make a decision and shoot'em. Good luck.
You MUST shoot what I shoot!!!!!! What flies best for you and whatever head that you want to see how it does, is the head to shoot. Each of us have our reasons for shooting what we do. I had bad experiences with Muzzy so I don't shoot them. I've had great success with Slick Tricks so I always have them around. I prefer above all others the German Kinetic but they are expensive.
Ha, buddy you've opened up the flood gates. All your broadheads will kill, as long as they're sharp. For what it's worth though, muzzys are "our" (the guys I hunt with) "lucky" broadhead. I'm not sure why, the big bucks just seem to come out when the muzzys are knocked up.
Broadheads is a fun topic to discuss and re-discuss. Almost every head out there has its fans and its share of people that have had less than good luck. Myself, I've had poor luck with DRT heads, pretty good luck with Phat Heads, and great luck with Wasp Drones. Like the OP, when I was shopping around for a new head I had it narrowed down to two or three choices that I wanted to try. Tests done by the Antler Geeks on Youtube finally tipped the scales for me.
As for the OP I would use the DRTs. I personally used Grim Reaper Hades last year and they worked great. However I am going to Slick Tricks this year just to try something different.
