When I have a deer mounted I always write up the story of the kill and add a few pictures to a ziplock bag to attach to the back of the mount. That way when I'm dead in a couple yrs. and the wife sells my mounts at a tag sale for 5 bucks……… 5 BUCKS Get it…………….. the story of the hunt won't die with me. And now that I'm videotaping I think I'll put a dvd in there too.

    Nice idea.

I only keep pics of when I found him after the track, I want pics of the real reaction of the recovery, no next day posing in camo.

That's a great idea. I should do the same thing!

Last several years I started to do the same thing, but I do it for ME. I have racks on my wall that I shot years ago, and I don't remember where, when, or any of the details of the hunt. Would be so nice if I had written a little story for each, with the details of the hunt, and attached it to the back of the plaque.

I have the rack of every buck I've shot since I started hunting, I can look at any one of them and remember that hunt specifically. That's the main reason I keep them.

Some I remember, others that were not among my biggest, I just cannot recall the details. I guess it ain't a bad thing that I've shot so many bucks that I can't remember them all, but also, getting older sucks! If I could do it over again I'd take the time to write down every detail of every one, so I could relive the experience as my brain turns to mush!

My latest thing is the videotaping my hunts. I just watched a videotape of a fl. hog hunt that I made a few yrs ago. Its amazing how much you can forget about till you see it again played on the big screen. However it sure takes away from the embellishment factor.
