Today at work I found a trail camera on the side of the road in the island lake or Barrington area. Judging by the pictures it look like it was stolen and then thrown out the window. If anybody is missing a Camera from that area and can describe it let me know and we can meet to return it. I believe the first picture on it is the owner's face setting the camera up so I have an idea who you look like. The last pictures recorded were from December 4 so that would be the timeframe when it was stolen.

May have been someone that laid it on top of vehicle, forgot about it while doing something else, drove off and lost it. Nice of you to try and find owner, kudos to you!

Sounds more reasonable. That or fell out of the pick up truck somehow.

I kind have thought this too but the pictures look different. Three dudes walking by and noticed the camera walk up to it and then the pictures end. all at night. I still don't know if they threw it out the window or left it on the car but I think it was definitely stolen. Slim chance that the person is on this website but it's worth a shot. None of the guys were in the first bunch of pics when the hunter was walking in and out a few times. It is a $160 camera.

Hoping for a positive outcome. Maybe it was a family member and just a lost cam.

check with local police. let them know that you have it if anyone comes looking for it. I know in my area when someone steals any hunting stuff it hits the police blotter instantly.

Yeah definitely notify the police and the local CO. They may already have a police report from the owner. Good luck!

Put this on Facebook. Better chance of owner hearing about it. Kudos to you.

Put a found posting under your local craigslist trail cams if you haven't done so yet. The owner is probably watching to see if it goes up for sale.

might be a while. depends how often the owner checks his camera. he might not even know its gone yet. put it in lost and found in your local nwespaper sometimes that is free. just depends how much messing around you want to do. kudos to you!

I will check with the police and maybe try Craigslist. I don't think the Facebook thing would work as it is not where I live but rather where I work. I don't know anybody from that area so I don't know who would see it

Haven't checked all my cameras lately but I'm not too far from that area. If it's a Stealth Cam G30 or GX42 it may be mine. Is the hunter fat, white and ugly? :D
