So here's the thing, is it ok to just pee out of your tree stand, or is it better to carry something in to go into. This has been the topic of conversation between me and my hunting buddy's for a while now and I'm still not convinced that it's ok to do this. Same can be said for chewing, is it ok to spit on the ground or, is it better to carry something in to spit into?

Your experience will probably differ from mine and there just might be another opinion or two out there.

I pee in a bottle, (albeit a rather large bottle!) but I have a good buddy that has had success peeing in scrapes and getting bucks worked up because he messed with their scrape.
I have seen deer turn and hightail it from a guy chewing and spitting.
    So what is your experience?

It's been indifferent at best I guess, I carry both, a sputter and pee bottle, and I've had both deer ignore or not bothered by both and I've had deer run from both, just wanted some outside opinions

How do you know the deer is running from the urine and not your human scent?

I personally believe that that incredible onion, garlic burger that you can still taste opening morning is as offensive as anything else.

We worry about our scent and everything about that but what about what comes out of that old pie hole?

I always thought that it was bad to pee out of the stand and I still don't know either way but I have done it a few times and still see deer so I guess in my opinion it doesn't matter! But I only do it if I'm about to pee my pants! In theory the wind is blowing behind you and usually don't see them from back there anyways so why not!

The consensus used to be that it was a negative thing to pee from your stand, I always thought that way as well. But with the advent of trailcams it does not seem to be true. Now I personally think that deer just view it as an intruder deer. I personally have never seen human urine spook a deer. I now pee out of my stand all the time and deer still seem to pass by it. Just my experience.

when i hunt, i want deer to come by TOTALLY calm. i don't want them to nibble/smell/look,ect at anything.
every time a deer smells a smell whether good/bad means its gonna stop and spend time to survey. i don't want that.
i don't believe they are alarmed by human pee but i don't want them to stop.
i used to carry an empty MT-DEW bottle but the hole was a bit to small and i have had a few blowbacks.
now i carry an empty gunpowder jug (1 #er)) that has a big opening.
    and no...........not cuz i'm hung like a horse either:sad:

I agree. I did it for the first time this year and less than 5 mins later, I had a small buck walk in right under my stand.

So me going number one on deer scrapes is a bad idea? LOL! I've been peeing in them for years and they seem to keep hitting them. With that said I wouldn't think twice about taking a leak out of the deer stand.

I let it fly as well. I have had deer walk by while in the act, mostly younger deer tho. I most worry about the noise it makes flying from 18 feet. I try to hit the tree next to me so it runs down quieter.

I pee in scrapes all the time and out of the stand. As a matter of fact I had a nice buck during rut cruising by down wind of where I just pissed, turn and come right in. If he would a been a shooter he would a been shot on camera at 5 yards.

Urine turns to ammonia in an hour, regardless of the animal that pee'd. Let it fly. I pee in scrapes and out of the stand and never saw a negative reaction.

I've got a buddy that said he had a 3yr old buck come running over to investigate what that noise was hitting the leaves. Guess he thought another deer was peeing. He tried to grab his bow and draw with his junk hanging out. Didn't work out.

They don't care. I've got multiple pics of deer hitting scrapes I peed in not a half hour after I went in them. Have also had deer right under my stand while it was still steaming.

I can't get over kids these days they sit in a tree and text, and tweet and play games on their phone, yet are concerned about how pee and spitting will scare the deer.

As a women, let me tell you, there isn't any peeing into a jug done in my stand. If I have to go, I get down and go. I have yet to see any negative effects.

If you are so concerned about your pee, what do you do when you have to take a crap while in the stand?
