I'm curious about the group consensus on sight diameter.

I'm outfitting a new hunting setup and leaning toward the HHA King Pin. I see that it comes in both a 2" and 1-5/8" diameter. Which do you prefer?

FYI, I typically hunt from a tree stand and ground blind.

I use a 2". I have a longer draw length and that lets me use a larger peep and still get the ring around the housing and the peep to line up letting as much light in as possible. Downside in my set up is that housing gets in the way a little quicker of my movable sight so I lose a few yards. Doesn't matter in hunting but practicing it makes me max out at about 85 yards. With a 1 5/8" I could maybe get to 100.

I have an HHA with a two inch housing. I went that way because I also use a 4X magnifying lense on it and figured the bigger the better. If you're not using a magnifying lense I'm sure the smaller one would be fine.

I'm a fan of larger sight housing. I feel anything to get more light in when hunting in low light cant hurt. One thing to think about is with a larger sight housing, you can use a larger peep to line up better. Also with larger peep it can help to get more light in.

My HHA is 2", my last sight was a Black Gold Ascent single pin with 1-5/8". I think I liked the 1-5/8" a little better. I use 3/16" peeps and it was just a little better fit for my draw length.

I line up my peep and my sight ring to make certain I am bending properly at the waist when shooting from a tree stand. The 1-5/8 works best for me, plus with an HHA getting light into the site is a non factor.

I use a Spot Hogg with a 2" housing. It lines up perfectly with a 3/16" peep sight. I can't see using anything any smaller or else I'd need a smaller peep.
