We just finished harvest October 18th. It had been a long, long harvest. I figured great... now I would finally get to bow hunt. 2 days later I was in the hospital for a week. I felt tough that night of the 18th. Put it off and went into the emergency room two days later. Cat scan found 4 aneurysm with one inflamed and on the verge of leaking and ready to rupture.. I was pretty much a walking dead man. They didn't figure I would survive the helicopter ride to get me to surgery and to a very good surgeon. They fixed 3 of them and blocked one off so the vein would die off ( small vein and not important ). it was a nasty long cut on my stomach with 49 staples to put me back together.

Well I am still kicking after a little over a month. Still not sure if the season is over for me but I still have hope as the healing has went great. Needless to say I am done smoking since that night and have been walking every day since the second day after surgery. I am up to about a half mile a day and that isn't pushing it too hard.

My next check up is December 11th. I am hoping to get the green light to do a little bow hunting if I back my bow down to 50 lbs. I have been getting Britney out to bow hunt now although I am just watching. I have good friends who will help drag out her deer if she gets one. I have been on my best behavior. :p

If I get the green light ... my buddy from Idaho, ( Troy, most of you know him ), is coming over to keep out of trouble and help. What a bud and I am so looking forward to seeing him.

While it has drove me crazy to see all the bucks running... yes I have been out scouting for the last couple weeks. ... I am not complaining to get cut out of hunting. I am so grateful to be a live and looking forward to hunting with Britney, seeing Troy and getting to hunt the last couple weeks of December. :tu:

Sorry for the long read. I will throw up some picture of bucks that I know have made it through rifle season that ended last weekend in a little bit but I have to go for my walk. Give me an hour... it will be worth it. :)

    Tim

Wow, so glad you went to the hospital when you did! Stubborn guys just wont go right away when they don't feel right! Glad to hear everything went well and you're improving every day.

Best of luck getting the doctors to allow you to hunt. Late season is better than never!

Life is fleeting. It takes tragedy for most of us to appreciate that fact. That is one weird thing about us human beings...we know we're going to die, but live like we're not.

Thanks for sharing your story. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery and many more harvests.

Glad you're still with us!!!! I'm sure a scare like that changes one's perspective on life. Hoping you have a full recovery and get a chance to get back out there.

Thank goodness you're ok. There will always be another year and another hunting season. I think sometimes we all forget the big picture and need to be reminded. Hunting is our passion and we all love it, but its a hobby or interest, not life. Our health, family and loved ones should always come before our hunting hobby.
