Well this morning me and my Dad headed out to some public ground about an hour south of us.I chose a spot where a logging trail goes along a ridgetop and passes a pond.About 8:00 I saw what I thought was a doe cross the trail about 50 yds up so I thought O well nothing ventured nothing gained do I grabbed my grunt call and tossed a cew grunts her way well turns out my "doe" was a spike buck and he came out and headed my way for about 20 yds then stopped amd turned around and started to leave so I grunted at him again then he turnedf back around and headed my way, then at about 30 yds out he stopped and started heading away again so I grunted the thrird time and he came in to 19 yds.I was able to put a great shot on him and he only made it 50 yds.You can say what you want about him being only a spike but I took him from the ground,on public land and that makes him a trophy to me
Congrats! Its not always about the size of game but the experience and situations that make it a trophy. IMO
My son killed a spike with a bow on public land too. It doesn't matter about the size it's about the attitude Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
