The man in this photo and his son have taken over 250 deer off their Sangamon County River bottom land. he told me today that this was the first non-typical they have taken off that land. He built a blind in the back of an old wagon and parked down in the bean field just out of the woods. Two does came out and just before dark this guy came out and dogged those does. He took this freak with his crossbow just before dark.
Cool looking buck, lot you can learn from an experienced hunter like that I love to talk to them and pick their brain.
One thing that he taught be is scent control is nice and so is stand location, but if you can't get in and out without bunping the deer then there is no reason to hunt there at all. These guys are meat hunters who feed there family's with that meat. Slip in and slip out and watch the deer eat the whole time. Easy for them to say that, they have awesome land
Wow. Man if i won the lotto i would have had that shoulder mounted for him. Sucks how expensive taxidermy costs. Not that they dont need to make a living too.
