Anyone else have or previously had a funny hunting superstition? I've had a lot in the past. Everything from a lucky hunting knife, to a lucky tree, a lucky day of the year, and even a lucky pair of boots. This year I invested in two sets of awesome boots, the most comfortable I've ever had by far. But I've got an old ratty pair that I've killed TONS of deer in.....including my top 3 bucks. I'm not gonna lie........I'll probably be wearing the old ones tomorrow morning. Anyone else have a funny hunting related superstition they want to share?
I used to have a jones hat that I had to wear every time I went out. I wore it till it fell apart. Never bought another one. Blessings........Pastorjim
Ouch....that had to hurt. I was gonna say I cut a piece of Todd Graff's hair and had it woven into my new kevlar sleeve....I bet deer just die when they see me bahaha!
I number my arrows 1-5 and always nock the same arrow when hunting until I shoot then move onto number 2. If I'm hunting my favorite property there is a huge boulder that is at the end of the horse pasture that my dad shot his first deer standing off when he was 12 (like 100 years ago I think) and I will walk far out of the way to rub that boulder.
I have a lucky GA camp hat that I killed my first deer when I was 12 that I wear and I have my lucky old timers knife that was my great grandfather's that I carry with and start every deer that I start skinning.
October 23rd. 3 times in 6 years on this date I've had a buck what the exact route, lick the same exact branch, tend the exact scrape, and walk off the same way. All within 10 minutes of each other. How weird is that ?
Lucky knife that I found on the property here at home, really nice Carolina folding drop point. I usually lose it about twice a year and then scramble to try to find it in the house the night or morning of my first hunt. I don't know that it's "lucky" but I sure like using it to field dress deer.
