Just curious what others have done when it comes to starting your kids shooting a bow?

My kid is nuts about deer and bows. Imagine that..........hah.

My wife and I were talking and I was suggesting we get him a Diamond Atomic for him on his 3rd birthday this upcoming spring. I also work a lot of dealer events for BowTech and have helped kids as young as 4 many times and have also seen some 3 y/o's too.

My wife thinks it's too early but I'm thinking if he's interested in it why not?

Your thoughts? When did you start your kids?

My daughters were 5 when they first started shooting a little first fiberglass recurve I got them.

They were 8 for the first compound. My grandson got his first bow at age 7...

My rule was and is that they didn't shoot the bows unless they had adult supervision....

I don't have kids but I was 7 when I started shooting. I learned on an old Bear compound from the 70's that my uncle had learned on.

He was 4 working on 5. Martin Tiger bow. He did really good with it.

He is 8 now and shoots a Diamond Infinite Edge. And yes he switched from left to right due to eye dominance.

He is now killing things with it. Was out hunting for chippies and came home with this mole.

My son started shooting a Nerf Bow last Christmas at 4. Hey has learned basic form without the risk of injury or property damage. I am thinking about getting him a simple compound this Christmas.

I started my boy out at 5 with a cheapy Bear bow from ****s to see what kind of interest he had. He absolutely loves it so this Christmas, he's going to be getting a shiny new Mission bow to grow into.

Both my kids started at 2.

I retrofitted a nerf bow to shoot arrows for my daughter and my son got a custom recurve (5# at 12") his paw paw made him.

The boys all got pvc bows from an art in the park before they were 4. Their 5th birthday present is a bow.

Well I don't have kids but I bought my first bow when I was 13 just for the heck of it and loved it ever since. I started out with a parker side kick xp and I regret trading it in for a new bow.

My son was when he started shooting his little long bow. I have a youth compound for him but he can't quite pull it back yet. He is 5 now and shoots pretty well at the target in the yard!

Both my sons were 3. Neither have really taken huge interest until a few months ago. Now we are making a jump to a real compound and I believe they will really like it.

My daughters are late teens now and have about as much intrest in shooting a bow than I do watching keeping up with a kardashian!! Although my wife shocked the hell out of me about 3 weeks ago and asked to go to the local archery range!! Lasted about a half hour, I think she is done too!! BTW if the child can handle a bow safely, let em try it!!
