Did a quick search but didn't see anything recently about this.

What age have you guys and gals introduced your young ones to archery?

My son is 4 (will be 5 in March) and is now interested in archery after watching me practice in the backyard. He's already told me he wants a bow like mine for Christmas! LOL

My local pro shop lists giving lessons to 5 year olds. My son is a little unique though, since he is on the autism spectrum, but I really think it would be good for him.

Good thread, I wonder the same. I have a daughter (4 in December) who likes to watch "deer shows" with me and I have a feeling she will want to shoot a bow before long.

I've been thinking about this also. I think first I'm going to get her shooting a 22cal rifle than shift her to a bow also. I will have to keep an eye out for a beginners left hand bow for a girl. I usually don't see one laying around the shops for her to try and see.

My four year old shoots a nerf bow that he got last Christmas. Its not close to the real thing, but I am still working on teaching him good form and he can consistently hit my target from 10 yards. Nothing fancy, but he likes it and it is safe for him to do without supervision.

One thing I think is a cool idea is to pin balloons on a target and have them shoot that. Makes it pretty fun for the young ones I bet :)

My 6 year old grandson, out of the blue told his mother that he wants to go bear hunting with a bow with me. I have never talked to him about hunting. I had a hell of a time convincing her I had nothing to do with it.

LOL that's awesome. At these ages their little minds are like sponges.

My boys purchased their own boys at about 12 and 5 yrs old.
They just piddled with it. They purchased other bows last year at 21 and 14 yrs old.
We are rollin on with it now. I love it!

When they are younger, just have fun with doing whatever they want.
