I prefer to stand just easier to move into position to draw and shoot, but I would not hesitate to take a shot sitting down.
Yes I have and I practice for it. You never know when a shot may present itself when you aren't prepared.
Whatever position I am in when the deer comes in that I want to kill. I practice year-round from standing, sitting on a chair, sitting directly on the ground, kneeling and from elevated positions. Just trying to stay prepared for whatever scenario plays out in the woods.
I try for standing when I can and that's almost always the case. I have got caught off guard and shot several times sitting though! Its just easier for me standing!
I prefer to stand, but that's not always an option. Even though I practice all positions now, I only practiced standing up as a youth, so it's instinct.
I practice in all positions from a tree stand, even if I hang it just two feet high in a tree in the back yard. However, I will try my hardest to stand on all deer I shoot - only because I'm much more comfortable
Mostly sitting and I prefer it that way. I lock my ladder stands on low, like 10-15' at the most. That height is nice to shoot from sitting. Any higher and it almost necessitates standing. Standing at the low heights I use will get you busted a lot easier. Kind of a catch 22 type of thing.
I prefer to stand when at all possible. Like BigPhil, I practice all different scenarios. Like Bloodcrick said, you can be caught off guard sometimes and have to shoot from a seated position.
I rather stand but I've shot sitting down mainly because the deer was right up on me and caught me by surprise and couldn't stand. But shoot sitting from a blind all the time and I do it as part of my practice.
I practice shooting sitting (I have a ladder stand set up on my home range) just in case. And last season both deer I shot while sitting down.
If a deer sneaks up on me I will shoot sitting but if I have my choice, standing. Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Tapatalk
If I'm in my climber I'm basically forced to stand. If I'm in my clamp on then 90% sitting shots Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
I have killed deer both sitting and standing. It completely depends on the cover between us and if I can stand without being noticed. I prefer to stand because it's ideal to bend at the waist when aiming down at a deer. When sitting you have to lower your arm to get the right angle since you can't bend at the waist so it MUST be practiced because it's definitely a different kind of shot.
