I have seen many pictures of arrow groups at different yardages on this forum. I am beginning to shoot pretty good (for me) groups at 40 yards and I was wondering if any of you guys could share some photos of your groups at 40 yards
I don't group. I can't afford to be replacing arrows all summer. Go buy the little garage sale stickers and place a few on your target. Shoot one arrow at each sticker. This will teach you to aim small, miss small and prevent damaging arrows.
You have to remember when looking at people's group photos, it had to be an above average or best group in order for them to take pictures of it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That would be a fun thread. Shoot a group and post it. No matter how good or bad. It would need a time/date stamp to match the post date and time.
So true Matt. The pic I posted is pretty much my average 6/7 arrow group. A couple real good and a few flyers.
Absolutely! That's the case for most people. You can tell who is honest about it. It makes some people who don't know any better, feel like they're terrible though, if their average group isn't like that. What I do is buy 6x 400g crap arrows for target (same spine) then buy 6x 400g really good arrows (same spine) for hunting. I shoot the crap arrows all summer and then only shoot the good hunting arrows a few times a week or so before the season starts to make sure they are good. here is my 40 with crap target arrows.

There are guys out there that can put up tight groups every time at those distances. We shoot a lot and we shoot for high levels of accuracy. The top pic is close to my normal 45 yard group. I was aiming at 2 different areas of an ASA scoring ring. In a tournament situation shooting in an open class you have to be able to pic a spot inside a spot and hit it or your arrows can get deflected out and loose points. Aimed at the upper 12 and tubed one. It's not easily done with nock bushings. I go through about 6 dozen (last year was 7) arrows a year due to this and busting the sides of shafts. I take pictures all the time of my groups. It helps me go back and look at my progress. I don't post pics on here or other forums about my groups normally and wouldn't on this post but, when someone says that most shooters can't put up groups like that at 40 every time must be talking about bowhunters who shoot every now and then and not archers who shoot every day. I agree that most post above normal groups. The one I posted is about average for me though. Should have mentioned that it was with a full on target rig so obviously it's not an average bowhunters group. I just happened to be at the range when I saw this thread. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
SO FREAKIN TRUE!!!! I had a arrow i labeled #2. and it would always be off. and go figure. after that set of arrows all broke. #2 was still there. It just wanted to haunt me forever.
