Got the bow out to shoot shot 2 arrows, nocked up the third and let it go. Sounded like a 22 went off the arrow went sideways and landed 3 feet away. The string was on the side of the stop looks like the string was twisted the peep is off. No apparent damage to the limbs. I used nocturnals after they died left them on the practice arrows, one split on me. Hope there is no damage. I can't blame the nock it is 3 years old with 100's of shots on it. I will not use nocturnals on practice arrows anymore.
Was the nock cracked maybe? I have used them for the longest times after the battery dies just to match weight but never had that happen yet. Thats definitely strange. Any pictures as now you have my couriosity peaked. but all in all just glad you were not hurt in the process and hope the bow is ok.
I did not notice anything off when I put the nock on the string but based on the break it must have been cracked. It broke off all the way to the light on just 1 side.
Bummer man. I hope your bow is ok. Lots of folks on AT complain about Nockturnals breaking, but the only lighted nocks I've ever had break were Nock Out's. I've used Nockturnals 3 seasons now. I know PIN'em & STICK'em on here recently had a Nockturnal split but he is shooting a monster bow haha.
happened to my dad years ago (decades actually now...). Nock was cracked a little shooting in the backyard just before a January deer hunt. One of his limbs broke and had to get replacements - but the original limbs were laminated wood back in the day when some bows had them.
That's crazy. Got any pics of the broken nock and the bows condition? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I will grab a pic in the AM. The string did not come off the cam and the limbs still feel smooth. Headed to the local shop first thing in the AM.
Dang, glad you are ok and no apparent bow damage. Not last season but the season prior I had a Lumenok on my arrow and shot at a giant 8 pointer and the arrow split and basically exploded from the shot. I later found out that the nock had been too tight when I put it on (checked other ones) and it split the back of the arrow on the shot which caused it to explode. Luckily my string didn't come off the cams and I didn't get hurt but it sure sucked.
I should take the time to thank Scott at Tales and Trails for getting me back shooting. He didn't even charge me extra for letting me watch him go thru my bow. Nothing beats having a local bow shop close by that takes care of loyal customers.
I had a problem with nockturnals splitting, too. After the second one, I got rid of them. I liked that they were so bright, but not going to chance getting hurt, or failing at the shot of a lifetime. I went back to the regular CX lighted nocks
I cannot blame the nock it has been on a practice arrow for at least 3 years been sent into the target at least 1000 times. I have complete faith that a new nocturnal on a hunting arrow will not fail me.
