Don't worry about fps, worry about kinetic energy. A slower heavier arrow will out penetrate a faster lighter arrow every day of the week.

I have some 300 spine velocity xt's but they may be a bit light for you

That's what I was thinking I've been looking around and haven't found anything stiffer than that yet

Your kind of limited then if your shooting for say ...475ish. Here is why..at 30/70 with 30.75 shaft in a .300 spine your not going be able to add a bunch of weight up front, because your not overly stiff.

I would look at moderately heavy shafts like ....300 acc's or FMJ.
Gold Tip Kinetics would be a great choice also.

100-125 grains up front and you will near your target weight.

I been thinking about this build. An really don't like heavy shafts with low FOC...and thats what will be recommended mostly..... Here is a better idea.

    Black Eagle Carnivore's .250 Spine 9.7 GPI

    30.75" X 9.7 ....298g
    Brass insert 42g
    Fletching/knock 20g
    Broadhead 125g

total weight 490g ....should have a FOC in the 16% range.

I think another question is... why 70lbs? I'm not sure what you're planning on hunting, but if its deer, you're overkill. If you backed down the weight to say 65lbs, you'd give yourself more wiggle room in terms of arrow setups. Trust me, with 5lbs is not a huge difference in speed.

Speed doesn't kill, KE/Penetration does. Today's bows are far more efficient than their predecessors. What you needed 70lbs for years ago, you now need 60lbs for.

    Are they 70-80lb limbs?

Both black bear and elk aren't exceptionally thick skinned animals. I know a boat load of folks who hunt and successfully harvest both with a 60lb bow.
