I'm asking today who out there uses a kisser button on their bows, who doesn't, and why? And if there's a preference for either rubber or brass? Mine came off while practicing today, in below freezing weather I might add, so I'm debating whether to replace it and with what kind. Thanks.
I don't use one on my current setup, but I have used one on other setups I've used. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I use one. I have had some pretty extreme shot angles and its nice having that point of reference. I have also had some short ATA bows that it was not possible to put my nose to the string without leaning my head forward.
I use one as I shoot a Z7X and I really can't get the string to my nose so I put a kisser on it. Just another point of reference, don't know if it is essential but gives me a little confidence.
Thanks everyone. I noticed this morning that I was able to get into a more comfortable position and still throw arrows on top of each other from fifty yards without having a kisser as a guide. I'll practice without one for a couple of sessions to see if there's a difference or improvement in my accuracy.
My local shop suggested I not put one on as it slows down the speed of the bow. Im sure it affects speed, but by how much??? Also, right now I'm using my nose on the string which works well but I do have to lean my head forward to do this. Is this bad form? Would a kisser help me? Another anchor point wouldn't hurt right?
If you have to lean to reach the string, don't. Keep your head erect. I use a d loop knot as my kisser. Will post pics when I get home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've always used my Knuckle behind my ear as an Anchor point but of course i guess its subjective to the length of your arms and hands, I shoot pretty well not competion level or anything but I'm happy with it and haven't seen the need. I try not to add to much to my shooting I try to follow what they taught me in the Military The K.I.S.S Method.
I tried a plastic kisser once. Parked it in the corner of my mouth like I was instructed and then proceeded to tear a chunk of skin off my lip.
1-2fps loss. Leaning your head forward is bad as Max said. That also means if you're using a peep sight it cannot be properly set because you are moving your head.
It might not have been installed correctly (you want the split facing away). Plus many today are rubber. I use Pine Ridge but have also used Draves Comfort Kisser and neither were hard plastic like the ones I used years ago. I have also done what Max does and use the d-loop, however I found in the cold when I wear my fleece gator I can't feel the d-loop.
I use one. I have 3 solid anchor points now (previously 2, nose and ear lobe). The way I look at it, 3 is better than 2 and always better than 1.
