What do you guys prefer? Swhacker or Rage. Personally I am all swhacker, this past year I made a terrible shot on my first buck with a bow, I have no doubt that if I didn't have a swhacker I wouldn't have gotten this deer. as you can see the swhacker really did its job here, I know the buck isn't much but it was my first with a bow and I couldn't be happier.
I've never shot a Swhacker but have taken many deer with a Rage and it has yet to fail me - knock on wood
Any deer with a bow is a good deer man. To me any deer that i shoot is a giant. Thats a great looking deer man! congrats man! Im not a big fan of o rings around the shwackers but i haven't personally bought them.
I like the Schwackers myself but as anyone here i bet will tell you its what works for you and what you like ultimately is gonna win out no matter what someone tells you if its dropping deer it works.... Happy Hunting!!!!
I use Rage broadheads. They have NEVER failed me. I prefer the Hypodermics of all of the Rage broadheads that are available. They are Awesome!!
Wade Nolan did and excellent video on mechanical broadheads of all types. look it up on you tube should be able to find it.
I switched to swhacker 2 years ago and never looked back. I never got into the rage trend, heard to many stories from friends that kinda scared me i guess.
I am a fixed blade fan (QAD Exodus), but after seeing some blood trails from my friend's deer the last two seasons I have been tempted to switch. He uses the the big 2.3" Rage Extreme but I like the looks and reviews on the Hypodermic.
You know you keep dancing with the devil with such statements is gonna catch up on ya! I promise to never say I told you so bud! (I hope you keep having 100% efficiency with them honestly!)
I know what you are saying TY and I hope it doesn't "Bite me" at the wrong time. I think a lot of people have had Rage broadheads fail them because they were 1. Shooting poundage that was low or at the threshold. 2. They bought imitation Rage broadheads or 3. They re-used Rage heads once they were shot. I don't do any of the 3. When I shoot a deer, before I pull the arrow out of the ground, I unscrew the arrow from the broadhead and leave it in the ground. If it is a pass thru and the arrow is not stuck in the ground, I push it in the ground and do this. I don't take chances. Every time I go hunting, I have brand new Rage broadheads on my arrows. This works for me! With all the money we spend on Bows, Arrows, sights, etc.., I am not going to take a chance on the one thing that actually kills the deer. Just my way of doing things!
seems like your spending a lot of money on broadheads depending on how many deer you shoot, but at 100% kill ratio maybe you are the only smart one using new everytime. i tried rages and personally couldnt stand any part about them. i did kill a couple deer with them but my blood trails werent any better than when i shot them with my trusty muzzy mx3. i cant stand the o-rings, more than a couple times i would be sitting in my stand and notice one blade came out of the o ring and was dangling there. fixed blades 100% for me.
Used to use Rage until I shot a buck and the blades didn't deploy... Now I just don't trust mechanicals and love the heavy blood trails that my slick trick magnums give me. Haven't had one go more that 100 yards since And they still fly like field points
That's a very nice deer and definitely something to brag about.. To answer your question I have shot both the swacker and rage. I like the rage better as if you don't get a pass through the hole is only 3/4 inch with the swacker while the rage is generally 1.5 to 2 inches. Will it kill. Both will and kill quickly if in the right spot. But if it works for you and you are confident with it then keep with it. No need to change. Congrats again on a fine deer!
I'm telling all of you to go on you tube and look up Wade Nolan's broadhead test. he is shooting plywood, metal barrels, pig shoulder blades, and other stuff. his video shows you exactly how mechanicals perform. just checked and the videos are on you tube. it will amaze you how fragile mechanicals really are.
