I am basically looking at converting. I currently use a 5 pin, I have always shot that way. I guess my eyes are not what they were because last season in some low light shooting situations, distinguishing my pins was a bit of a challenge. I am looking at getting perhaps a single pin site that is adjustable for yardages. I do a lot of long range rifle hunting and am familiar with adjusting turrets on my rifle for yardages, I don't see why it would be any different with a bow. Which ones are you guys using? Can I set the yardages on the dial or is it factory standard? Does the clicking or turning of the wheel create any noise? Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks
I recently put a single pin head on my Black Gold 3 pin Ascent sight. I have never liked single pins, but it has been years since I used one so I am giving them another chance. A new head was cheaper than a new MBG sight and plus I can switch back in I don't like it. These are the same sight, just different heads. Three Pin: Single Pin:
I use an HHA. I sited mine in for 25 yards and never have moved the pin. I can shoot 0-45 yards accurately without moving the pin just takes a little practice.
Another vote for the HHA, I have an OL-5519 on mine and also do not have to change adjustments from 0-35 yds. Also, it has the brightest pins I have ever used.
HHA. great products supported by awesome customer service. You won't be disappointed with any off the sights HHA has to offer. They are sturdy and quick and you won't have to worry about any noise. They have have a sight in tape that you use when you first get your sight, from there you will be able to pick the tape that matches your set up.
I'm currently using the HHA Optimizer King Pin, but also used the HHA Optimzer Lite Ultra. Both work very well and their pin is one of the brightest I've used. You'll run out of legal shooting light before you are unable to see your pin. In HHA's case you sight your bow in at 20 yards then at 60 yards using their setup tape. This will then tell you what tape number to use that came with your sight. You apply that tape to your dial and you'll be sighted in from 20-80 with the Ultra and 20-100 with the King Pin. Nope. They're dead silent. Like most other guys I typically leave mine set at 23-25 yards and shoot out to 30 without moving the pin. Works great for hunting whitetails out of a treestand.
How do u like the single pin head looking in to getting a single pin and I am considering this sight.
Wow so HHA seems to be the popular choice. So lets narrow it down to model. Which model does every one like and why?
I like DS-5519. It is my favorite. It has the dial instead of the slider and you can increase in 1 yard increments if you so choose. I am getting the Optimizer King Pin for my next bow. It is everything the DS-5519 is and more.
I like it a lot. It is typical MBG quality and very bright. It is the Ambush head so if you bought one that's what it it would look like.
I took a gabble and got the new trophy ridge clutch and I'm really liking it so far. This is my first single pin and I'm enjoying not having the clutter from the other pins Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just switched to the hha ds-xl5519 and love it. It's quiet. I do worry about forgetting to move the pin though but we will see. It's also not heavy at all compared to the spot Hogg I was using.
I went from a 5 pin to a single pin spot Hogg Hogg father. I like the dovetail and being able to have my sight out pretty far from the bow. Easy to set up and get dialed in. It comes with sight tapes and you set it up the same way as justin explained how he got his king pin dialed in. Sight it in at 20 and 60 and the rest gets compensated to your set up. Sight tapes go from 20-100.
I recent switched from a 5 pin trophy ridge hitman 5 to the trophy ridge react one pine sight cuz during hunting it was hard to distinguish my pins they all blurred together and I hit deer high and low both all from the pins all running together all I can say is I will never go back love the one pin sight and makes absolutely no noise and you can sight in at 20 and 30 and your ready all the way out to 100 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
