Hi guys and gals. Question about mounts. I have my mount up in the house, of course its a problem with the wife and my 3 daughters. My question is can my mounts be put outside exposed to the elements? I have seen pics with mounts on barns, fences, etc. Please help and let me know. Thanks to you all and hope your seasons were great!!

I drive by a house quite often that has some nice ones hanging on his front porch.. I have watched them deteriorate significantly over the years. I would not recommend it personally.

Man cave buddy. I'm working on building a new one at my new house right now to keep my gear and mounts. Leaving those memories outside would be a tragedy to say the least.

Is there anywhere inside you can move them instead of in the main part of the house? I have a small room, maybe 8x12, I keep all my bow stuff in (bows, bow press, arrow bench, etc) and since my computer is also in there I hung up my racks just so I can look at them anytime lol.

Great way to ruin it quickly.... even a garage. unless climate controlled is a bad idea. Taxidermy does not do well with extreme temps, humidity etc..... Euros or skull cap mounts will survive as long as they aren't in direct sunlight otherwise they of course will fade... Most of the pics you see of mounts outdoors are just that. Outside for the pic.. they don't leave them there.

What problems do they have with your mounts in the house - Offended? Looks bad?

I am so thankful my girlfriend does not have a problem with it (she does not hunt and never will).

Exactly what muzzyman said. spending countless hours hunting and then leaving your memories out to rot? I would tell her in a nice way, she is just gonna have to live with it. Good luck

We talked it over before I had it mounted. Thought that made sense.

when we got married wife said no mounts in the living room, we will soon have 5...

I let her name them there is Larry,Darryl,Fred and Hank, the newest addition has not been named yet..

And since my wife now hunts with me it makes it a lot easier to bring mounts into the house..

My living room has a wall with a vaulted ceiling covered with mounts. If fits the décor.

I wouldn't do it. Why do they have a problem with it, are they not hunters? If you have a "man cave" I would put it there.
