What do you guys think of peole picking up road kill bucks and saying it is theres? I hd a close friend that over break said he shot a big 9 pointer with a big drop tine and sent me pics. I later saw a pic on fb of his mom with that same deer and it said, "The buck me and The kids name hit with the car this weekend. We totaled the car but we are okay". This really makes me mad when I hear stories like this...

I think it's funny that someone would do that haha. If it makes him feel good about himself who cares. I know I wouldn't even think of doing that, what for?

He must have felt dumb after his mom posted that on FB. That'd be embarrassing for him haha!

My father had similar situation when I was younger, Dads cop buddy had been called to a accident with Deer and he ended up bringing it to my dads work in the trunk of his squad car. He was so excited to show my dad and his co-workers his "Buck" he had got lol.

:busted: If he's an adult and he was being serious rather than making a prank, I think he's a spineless weasel that more that likely lies and bends the rules at every opportunity he gets in life. If he was just a kid, well... kids will be kids and think about 30 seconds into the future... my two cents :)

Had a friend this fall total his grand prix on a buck and said he's getting it mounted. The thing is a monster but I wouldn't mount it. European, yeah.

The guy I know that mounted the road kill is one of "those" guys, needs to have a big buck on the wall to validate himself.

Gotcha! The friend actually doesn't deer hunt that religiously. If I had to guess, he did it because it ruined his car. Hard to say for sure.

I have caught folks doing the same with trail cam pics... they post a pic saying the deer is on their land only to find the pic on another forum or trail cam site.... pitiful just pitiful...lol

I don't know if I would call him a close friend if he is so easily willing to lie like that to you. Just saying.

My MIL totaled her car two years ago with a big nontypical. It sent her and her husband to the hospital. She wanted the deer mounted. So we had to hurry and get this deer before anyone found out. We didn't get it professionally done. Used an old mount a friend had and shoved "her" horns on. She loves it. I think it looks mangey, lol. But she says it's the only way she'll be able to get a deer for awhile - due to health issues. Though, people do know it was with her car and not with a weapon.

We pick up fresh road kill - but never say it's a deer we killed. We proudly say it's roadkill, lol.

Are you sure your buddy wasn't just screwing with ya? My friends and I wouldn't pass up the chance to mess with each other like that.If he was serious and he is a close friend it shouldn't end a friendship or anything thats for sure.

If it was a big deer like 150" and up I would look for the cheapest taxi in the area and have it mounted.

I agree with picking roadkill up and happy to have gotten one this year. I also am fine if people get them mounted or whatever, and would personally do a euro or something if worth it, since mounts, euros, racks, all look cool for decorations too. The claiming as a kill beyond just joking is pretty pathetic. If I find roadkill I'll call it that. If I find sheds or dead deer shed hunting I'd call it that. Kills I'd call as is. The lying part is weak, and getting caught like that is funny.

I feel its all about how the story is told. If you mount a road kill and tell a tale about an incredible hunt you took him on your a piece of work. If your story is the truth and its a decoration I have no problem with it. I feel the same about wounded deer recovered weeks or months later, its not the one you killed, its the one you couldn't recover. Just tell the truth IMO.
