Okay so this is how it went down. My dad shot a buck a couple years back and took it into the taxidermist and when we got it back it looked horrible! We later found out he left the cape out and it started to slip so he tryed covering it with airbrush and whatnot anyway it looked horrible so we worked out a deal and he said he would try to find a cape that would fit and re do it. This is what it looked like when we got it back the first time.. While at the taxidermist my dad shot another buck worth mounting. We brought this one to him as well. We just got a call and a text with pictures showing they are both done.. What do you think.. The new cape is a different color than the deer we have but otherwise it looks decent I think. Here are pictures of the bucks in the feild and the mounts
Looks much better then the original mount.. How did the guy think he could cover up patches of missing hair with an air brush....?
After him messing it up the first time and trying to cover it up, that would have been the last time I dealt with him. The mount does look better.
I would never go back to that guy he is a hack. The bucks are nice but the mounts are still not what they should be. I would demand my money back.
The thing is both these bucks won the buck contest we enter every year and the first place prize is a free mount. So I guess we can't complain too much.. My dad actually one 3 years and got a free mount on each. When they are all hung together on the same wall I will upload a picture. With each of their trophies next to them.
What is the second place prize? Might want to swap next year! Although I do agree it appears to be better it is still not the quality I would look for in a mount. I do understand it is very subjective... It sounds like you are happy with it and that is what counts!
The others turned out nice but I would have found me a new taxi after first mishap. Too much money to have mishaps like that.
