Curious what everyone uses. Also, comment with brand of sight you use and why you like it. EDIT: I shoot an HHA Optimizer Lite.
I use a Schaffer Opposition sight with four pins but I stripped one so now it's a 3 pin. 20,30,40 yards. Not too many places here in CT to get a 40 plus yard shot unless your hunting a field. I liked it at first but with the pins coming from both sides seem to me takes up a lot of vision. I have been myself trying to decide on either a single pin black gold or a tommy hog for awhile. The thing about both of these sights is that you can get different pin housing at a later time.
I like single pin sights. HHA to be exact. Easy to setup and built like a tank. Excited to try one of the new ones being released for 2015.
Trophy ridge cypher 3 pin. Set at 20 30 40 yards. Do not need anything farther than that as I will never shoot an animal past 40. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I shoot a custom Axcel Armortech Vision 4 pin sight. The top two pins are .019 and bottom two are .010 pins. I also shoot another Axcel that is a 5 pin.
I shoot a 3 pin Montana Black Gold, I have it set for 20, 30 & 40 but use the 40 yard pin as a floating pin and shoot out to 100 yards by turning a dial and using a yardage tape.
5 pin extreme, 20 30 40 50 and 60 I choose this particular 5 pin sight because of the pins are very fine and small, aim small miss small. Although I have a 50 and 60 yard pin I would never take this shot at an animal but practicing from larger distances makes a 20 30 and 40 yard shot a walk in the park.
I disagree with most of these posts. I voted 3 pin before I even read what other members commented, mostly because when I read the title and what you said, as well as the options you listed, I assumed you were talking about "pins". Personally, I shoot an HHA and I love it, however, it has it's downfalls. For example, I have shot and won numerous 3D tournaments throughout NC, killed Pope & Young's and killed a ton of does with it, yet, if you aren't hunting a bait pile or you don't know exactly where the deer will be and exactly when you will have a shot, it becomes tricky. You must first range the deer, dial your single HHA pin in, draw and then make a good shot, where-as with "pins", you have the luxury of having a pin set to every 5-10-20 yards and can allow yourself more leeway. If you feel confident that you can make all of those steps while in the stand, then by all means, I recommend an HHA, if not, at least a 3 pin sight. If you're shooting 270+ fps, I'd set the top pin at 20yds, middle at 30 and third pin at 40 yards.
Single pin Hogg father, comes with sight tapes 0-100 yards. You can shoot even further, I can shoot out to 140 before my fletching starts to hit the housing of the sight. Not saying I'm gunna shoot at game that far obviously, but it's always fun to shoot far. Plus getting 6-8" groups at 100 yards makes those 60-70 yard shots easy. Just like all other spot Hogg products, the Hogg father is built tough as nails and I can count on the sight at all times for it to do its job.
I use a single pin impact archery pendulum site it's dead on from a tree out to 35+ yards, after 40 I have to do a little calculating .. this is what works for my two set ups may not work for yours....
I have been thinking about getting one of those but didn't know any one that owned one. You are pretty happy with them? I always used a Savage pendulum but they don't make them any more and the impact was the closest one I could find to the Savage. Do you have the Impact Bravo?
Have used one since they came out with them , impact is just a few miles from the house and I have seen them made..Great customer service small company if you call you will probably get the owner...I have had the Bravo and the all terrain like both the bravo is simpler to use not that the all terrain is difficult..
